To Join Nashua Special Olympics:

1. Complete The Application
Special Olympics New Hampshire (SONH), is very strict in requiring that all Athletes and Volunteers keep their paperwork current. Forms that are submitted must be filled out completely. All Athletes and Volunteers must be fully compliant in order to participate in Special Olympics. Nashua Special Olympics, (NSO), needs lots of Volunteers to run this program, please consider volunteering. If you have any questions as to whether you are compliant, please email Laurie Heskett at bltbheskett@yahoo.com WHO: All Volunteers WHEN: Every three years DETAILS: Forms must be completely filled out. LPV compliance includes completion of Protective Behaviors training and a background check using “Verified Volunteers”  see instructions on LPV form.
Athlete Application for Participation
WHO: All Athletes WHEN: Every three years DETAILS: This form will require your physician’s signature, so please plan ahead!
2. Protective Behaviors
WHO: All Volunteers 18 and older
WHEN: Every three years DETAILS: This course takes about 15 minutes to complete on-line. Volunteers who have not completed this are prohibited by the State from participating in Special Olympics, so please, take 15 minutes right now as you are reading this message and go to the Protective Behaviors course on SONH.org and complete it. From http://www.sonh.org/, there is a link labeled “Protective Behaviors” in the upper right corner, click it, and then on the next page select “Click Here” under “Want to do the Training”. Follow the prompt including a 10 question quiz at the end.
3. Sign up for Nashua Special Olympics Emails!
In order to get emails about what is going on at NSO, subscribe to our email list with your name and email address and hit  “sign up.” You will start receiving informational emails as they are generated for various sports.  In the meantime, check the website for messages that are already posted for the sports you are interested in, as well as the events calendar!  Be sure to check your Junk/Spam folder to ensure NSO emails didn’t go there.
4. Select a fundraiser
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
SONH charges assessment fees for each Athlete and Volunteer registered for State events. Assessment fees range between $30 and $90 per person. Assessment fees and Housing fees for Athletes, Coaches and active volunteers are covered by NSO. Neither Assessment fees nor Housing fees are covered for non-active volunteers. Combining assessment fees, equipment expenses, and facilities, the yearly operating budget for NSO is over $40,000 per year. This is 100% obtained through fundraising and we need everyone’s help!!
We ask EVERYONE TO participate in at least one of our two fundraisers.
  1.  The Penguin Plunge is a Special Olympics New Hampshire fundraiser. 50% of funds allocated to NSO participants goes to NSO, the other 50% is for SONH to host the event. Minimum fundraising per plunger is $350. Let’s try to support each plunger to insure they meet the minimum #350.  Go to SONH.org for more information.  **Be sure to allocate 100% of your donation to Nashua Special Olympics**

2.  The CrossFit Tuff Row-A-Thon is held in September.  100% of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Nashua Special Olympics (NSO).  This fundraiser requires many Volunteers, from its dedicated committee, to securing sponsors for the event, to help on the day of the event.  Please consider being a rower or supporting a rower.  Watch for emails.

Thank you for contacting Nashua Special Olympics and we look forward to meeting you.
